Wallet, Guests & Saves

There are two ways to play Sproutville: connect a Solana wallet for a saved account, or hop in as a Guest. This page explains the difference and how your progress is (or isn’t) saved.

On your first visit you can connect a Solana wallet, choose a name (max 8 characters, must be globally unique), and pick a character. After that, returning players with the same wallet skip straight back in.

A few important honesty notes about the wallet connection:

  • It runs on Solana mainnet.
  • Sign-in uses Sign-In-With-Solana, which is connect-only. It proves the wallet is yours so we can load your save. It never moves, spends, or transfers any tokens.
  • There are no rewards or payouts today. Connecting a wallet just unlocks cloud saves.

With a wallet account, your progress is saved to the cloud (our server). That means:

  • Cloud saves — your gold, skill levels, crops, and crafted decorations are stored server-side.
  • Cross-device sync — sign in with the same wallet on another device and your save follows you. When local and server saves differ, the newer one wins.

Prefer to try the game without a wallet? Guest mode lets you choose a name (max 8 characters — and it does not need to be unique) and a character, then jump straight in with no wallet at all.

The trade-off is that nothing is saved:

  • Guest progress lives only in this browser session.
  • A Guest starts fresh every visit — your previous run is gone.
  • Your save is lost if you clear your browser or switch to another device.
  • Guest names are not unique, so two Guests can share the same name.
Wallet account Guest
Wallet required Yes (Solana) No
Name Max 8 chars, globally unique Max 8 chars, not unique
Progress saved Yes — to the cloud No — fresh each visit
Cross-device sync Yes No
Survives clearing browser Yes No

If you want your farm, gold, and levels to stick around, connect a wallet. If you just want to look around for a few minutes, Guest mode is perfect — just know you’ll start over next time.
